Auchi poly matriculates 12,000

The Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, has held its 32nd matriculation ceremony for the 2014/2015 session, where it formally admitted a total of 12,000 students.

Speaking during the ceremony held on Friday, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Philipa Idogho, explained that the matriculants were among “thousands” who participated in the post-UTME screening.

Idogho said the institution had a responsibility to train the students in both character and learning, in line with vision of the school.

She stressed that the institution’s management had put in place measures to check improper dressing, cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices.

She, however, urged the students to remain focused and resist the temptation to be negatively influenced by people of questionable character.

The rector added, ‎”I urged you to take full advantage of this privilege of admission by working studiously to attain your goals and ambition in this institution. The management of the polytechnic frowns at membership of cult groups.
“On our part, we will do all we need to do to make you men and women of character. The polytechnic is determined to make the learning environment conducive for you, so that you can optimise your time of learning.”

The Registrar, Dr. Margaret Ashikpelokha, who administer the oath of matriculation, urged the students to subscribe to rules and regulation guiding the institution, as members of the academic community.

‎”This oath entails that you pay due respect to the rector and officers of the polytechnic and that you will be faithful and observe the rules and regulation guiding the polytechnic,” she said.
